BubbleUPnP for DLNA/Chromecast notes
Feb 3, 2:21 PM
BubbleUPnP 2.9.1 released on Google Play with a lot of bugfixes, some fixing issues introduced in 2.9.
Changelog
- fixed several issues related to FFmpeg, that could result in audio not playing and/or various toast error messages
- added better defaults for 'Max samplerate' and 'Convert 24 bit to 16-bit' settings for many popular renderers
- 'Settings > Chromecast Transcoding > Preserve multi-channel audio' can be used again with new Chromecast firmware 1.30.x
- 'Settings > Chromecast Transcoding > AC-3 passthrough' now also applies to E-AC-3 (Dolby Digital Plus) when local transcoding is used (BubbleUPnP Server will need an update)
- fixed failure to perform local Chromecast transcoding of some TS streams (mostly iptv). It still will not work with these unusuable iptv TS streams requiring looping for playing for more than 30s
- fixed Denon HEOS renderers listed twice
- fixed bottom part of the (dark) transparent navigation drawer being opaque
- BubbleUPnP Server settings are now in 'Settings > Internet access with BubbleUPnP Server', with some minor changes and updated text and screens that honor current theme
- check that the installed APK matches the device's best ABI and display a warning if not the case, with the ability to install the better version. Can only possibly happen when installing BubbleUPnP by sideloading the APK
- many other obscure improvements, tweaks and fixes
//////////////////////
As a bonus, here's what the "obscure improvements, tweaks and fixes" category is about:
- Now Playing: fixed speaker icon truncated at huge font sizes and on tablets (when volume slider or buttons are enabled)
- Playlist: in Album Mode, use the same font / font size / color for title / artist than in track mode. Also apply to Library album view
- What's new screen honors main app theme
- fixed failure to read some subtitles sent by other apps or picked in-app with the SAF dialog
- fixed some failures when the local media server is disabled
- Google Music Sync dialog shows message about enabling Google Music Sync in Android settings to get an up to date snapshot of the collection
- if Qobuz account is configured, fixed entering Settings > Local and Cloud > Qobuz not showing logged user if user did not browse Qobuz first
- on devices having totally broken MediaPlayer WAV support, fallback to using AudioTrack
- don't use native ads anymore since they are depecated. Replaced with smart banners
- increased many timeouts that were too low in specific conditions
- made fixes for Chromecast local transcoding support on Chromebook and working x86 FFmpeg (yuk). But the unreliability of the NAT ip address to be reached from the outside still make it somewhat not usable, as the Chromecast will fail to reach BubbleUPnP. It can only be fixed by Google. For details see: forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75342079&postcount=13218. The weird NAT solution employed by Google on Chromebook's Android should be transparent to apps except it's not.
- if a renderer does not support WAV nor LPCM, disable 'FFmpeg audio decoding' for renderer
- fixed crash on Android <= 4.3, opening and UPnP AV renderer specifc page
